Aerodynamic Improvement of Flow Path of the HP Turbine Based on 3D Viscous Flow Computations

Section: Innovative Projects of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine
Language: Russian
Abstract: The results for study of possibilities to modernize the HP cylinder of the steam turbine have been presented. The prediction of a flow structure, kinetic energy losses and a stage efficiency has been performed basing on numerical simulation of three-dimensional viscous flow within turbomachinery flowpath. The gasdynamic solver FlowER has been used for computations. The alternative design of turbine stage flowpath has been suggested. It permits to increase the stage efficiency by 1.5 percent. The futher improvement of the turbine stage can be realized with 3D blade design.
Key words: steam turbine, flowpath, modernization, computational aerodynamics, three-dimensional viscous flow.
